Flight attendants in Thailand want a new television soap to be cancelled because they say it shows them in an unrealistic and immoral light.
泰國空服員要求電視台停播一部新的電視肥皂劇，因為這齣戲用脫離現實且不道德的觀點來呈現空服員的生活。
"The Air Hostess War" focuses on a married pilot having an affair with a stewardess on his plane.The trade union representing air crew is asking the culture ministry and the TV station that broadcasts the show to take it off the air. The union says the show might put off young people from becoming attendants.
這部名為「空姐戰爭」的肥皂劇，主題是描寫一已婚的飛機駕駛與機上另一名空服員發生婚外情。泰國空服員工會正要求文化部與播放這部連續劇的電視台停止播出此劇。工會表示，這齣戲恐怕會讓年輕人不敢擔任空服員。
The show began airing last week and is said to have enthralled viewers. But flight crew and their union are horrified.
這部肥皂劇上週才開始播出，據說吸引了大批觀眾收看。但空服員及工會卻大驚失色。
"We are demanding that the station and the producers immediately stop airing this ugly soap opera," said union official Noppadol Thaungthong. "It’s all about sex and air hostesses beating each other up in the cabin because of love and jealousy. This kind of thing never happens."
「我們要求電視台及製作人立即停播這齣醜陋的肥皂劇，」工會官員諾帕多表示。「戲裡完全是關於性愛及空姐在客艙內為了愛情與嫉妒打架。這種事從來沒發生過。」

soap：即為肥皂劇（soap opera）的非正式說法。
in a lather：非正式用語，指對某事非常焦躁不安，如She was in a real lather when I left this morning because she couldn’t find the tickets.（今天早上我出門前，她因為找不到票而非常不安。）
off（the）air：指廣播或電視停播某節目，廣播或電視播放某節目則為on（the）air。如As soon as the war started, any broadcasts with a military theme were taken off the air.（戰爭一開始，所有涉及軍事主題的節目都被停播。）
