A British conman who claims to have taken in nearly $3.1 million and slept with 2,500 women says he feels "exceptionally ashamed for the hurt I have caused."

Paul Bint, 48, who was recently released halfway through a three-year jail term for fraud, said he made millions and spent the money on sports cars, jewelry and extravagant vacations, the Daily Mail reported Monday.

Bint, whose cons included posing as prosecutor Keir Starmer, said the crimes helped him trick 2,500 women into having sex with him.

"I would imagine there are some of them who maybe never got over that betrayal and find it very hard to trust another man," Bint said. "So I feel exceptionally ashamed for the hurt I have caused. If I could go back 25 years and start again I would."

Bint said he is making an effort to stay out of trouble.
