Taiwan placed second in Airbnb’s listing of countries and regions with the largest growth in the number of searches on its Web site, the hospitality platform said in a tourism trend assessment published yesterday.
Global travel has revived and most signs point to next year being a year for globetrotters, it said, adding that heightened interest can be seen in 10 countries and regions on its platform.
Japan topped the list, with searches about the country increasing threefold, followed by Taiwan, Albania, Singapore, Finland, the United Arab Emirates, the Dutch Caribbean islands of Curacao and Aruba, Thailand and Guatemala, Airbnb said.
Separately, the platform created a list of the most popular destinations for next year based on searches entered by prospective travelers from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30.
The destinations are Indianapolis, Indiana; Warsaw; Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto in Japan; Buenos Aires; Marrakesh, Morocco; Brazil’s El Salvador, Rio de Janeiro and Macieo; Paris; Dusseldorf, Germany; the Spanish Canary Islands; Melbourne, Australia; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Lyon, France; Stockholm; Italy’s Cortina d’Ampezzo, Milan and Rome; Dallas, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Nassau, the Bahamas.
