A new type of "condom with teeth" aimed at preventing rape has gone on sale in South Africa, according to a radio report from the city of Kimberley recently.
目的在於防止強暴的一種新式「有牙齒的保險套」，已經在南非開始銷售，根據最近來自慶伯利的一項廣播電台報導。
To mark the beginning of a two-week campaign to stamp out violence against women and children, 57-year-old inventor Sonette Ehlers demonstrated the device, named "Rapex", at an event in her home town.
為了替一項為期兩週的終結婦女及兒童受暴運動揭開序幕，57歲的發明家宋妮特．愛勒絲在一場於家鄉慶伯利舉辦的活動中，展示這件名叫Rapex的裝置。
Dubbed "the penis flytrap" by South African media, the Rapex personal security device is used to women, and inserted and removed with an applicator as with a tampon. It is expected to sell for 30 cents.
南非媒體戲稱為「陰莖捕蠅器」的Rapex個人防身裝置，是供女性使用，並且像衛生棉條一樣是用塗敷器放入和取出，預期以每個三十美分的價格出售。
It is made from latex and has several rows of sharp "teeth" that can only be removed from the penis of a rapist surgically and should therefore lead to the capture and prosecution of the attacker.

In South Africa there were 55,000 rapes reported last year, or some 1000 each week, but the true number is believed to be much higher. Forty percent of the rape victims are children.
