A strong interest in the job and a good work-life balance are more important to workers than the size of their pay packet, a survey suggests.
對工作的強烈興趣，以及工作與生活平衡得好，對勞工而言，比薪水多寡來得重要，一份調查顯示。
In a survey of 1,000 people, 57% said they had remained with their present employer because they had a strong interest in what they did. Some 44% told City and Guilds they had stayed in a job for the salary.
一份針對千人的調查中，5成7說他們之所以不換工作，是因為對他們工作內容有強烈興趣。約4成4告訴（職業資格頒證機構）「城市與行業」，他們為了薪水不換工作。
Beauty therapists and hairdressers were the happiest workers, whilst builders and bankers were the least satisfied.
美容治療師與美髮師是最快樂的工作者，建築商與銀行員則最不滿足。
The findings should have an impact on the way employers run their businesses. "Companies can no longer rely on those established reward-and-recognition policies that fail to resonate with employees," said Bob Coates, managing director of City and Guilds.
這項發現對雇主經營企業的方式應該會有影響。城市與行業的總經理寇茲說：「公司不能再仰賴無法引起員工共鳴、既有的獎勵與認可政策。」
Instead, firms must work on overall "workplace happiness" to be able to attract and retain the best staff.

"By taking such a blinkered approach, they risk the rise of an unmotivated and unproductive workforce, and even potentially losing their staff to competitors," Mr Coates said.
寇茲說：「採取目光狹隘的方式，增加了出現不積極、無生產力的勞動力風險，甚至可能讓員工流失給競爭者。」
