Thunder Tiger Corp, which manufactures uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), on Sunday said that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with US radar system developer Imsar regarding the development of drones.
The MOU, signed on Friday, would enable the firm to use Imsar’s synthetic aperture radar in its drones, including the T400 model, for military and commercial applications, Thunder Tiger said.
The companies would also conduct field tests and display various drones to tap into the global market, it said.
The cooperation is a significant step for the development of the T400, which is supported by a Ministry of Economic Affairs program to facilitate the development of the nation’s defense industry, the company said.
Imsar, which makes high-performance radar systems, would be a strong partner, as it has been working with the US military to deploy new capabilities, Thunder Tiger said.
The company also said that it plans to showcase the T400 and other drones it has developed at the Taipei Aerospace Defense Technology Exhibition in September, to promote Taiwanese-made UAVs on the world stage.
