Rising numbers of Facebook users are deleting friends as they ’prune’ their on-line profiles, research has revealed.

Two-thirds of those who use the social networking website say they have ’unfriended’ somebody they do not want to know any more. Another 44 percent deleted comments made by other people on their profile page and 37 percent removed tags of themselves from photos.

這個社群網站的使用者中，有3分之2的人說曾將不想再認識的人「從好友名單中移除」。另外，44％的人刪除過其他人在他們個人頁面上的留言，37％移除過照片中標有他們自己身分的標籤。

The surprising figures show that Facebook users could finally be becoming more selective about who they allow to access their on-line life.

Many people allow their bosses, work colleagues and parents to become ’friends’ with them on the site - with potentially embarrassing consequences.

許多人允許他們的老闆、同事和父母在臉書上與他們成為「朋友」，這有可能帶來尷尬後果。

The report by US research organisation Pew bore this out : 11 percent of Facebook users have posted something they regret, with men being twice as likely to do so as women.

美國「皮優」研究組織的這份報告印證了這一點：11％的臉書用戶曾貼出令他們事後懊悔的內容，男性後悔的比例又是女性的兩倍。

Young adults under 29 were most likely to commit an on-line faux pas with 29 percent admitting such a blunder.
