Taiwanese powerlifter Yang Sen squatted a world record 452.5kg earlier this week at the World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Druskininkai, Lithuania, the Sports Administration said on Saturday.
Yang won gold in the under-120kg squat competition, breaking the 440.5kg world record he set at last year’s World Open championships, the International Powerlifting Federation said.
On the same day, the 117kg Yang also won gold medal bench pressing 332.5kg, breaking the 327.5kg Asian record he set last year.
Taiwan sent eight men and eight women to competition, which ran from Monday to Saturday last week. They bagged seven golds, 11 silvers and 10 bronzes, the administration said.
