A round-the-clock television channel devoted exclusively to ageing, dying and death is to be launched in Germany.
一個全天候播出、專門探討老化、垂死與死亡議題的電視頻道，將在德國開播。
Eos TV will feature documentaries about graveyards, televised obituaries, tips on finding a decent retirement home, organ donation schemes and even how to install in-house stair lifts.
Eos電視台將播出墓園紀錄片、電視訃告、介紹如何在退休後找個體面住所、安排器官捐贈計畫，甚至教人如何安裝室內電梯，作為號召。
Wolf Tilmann Schneider, 51, a former TV producer, has joined forces with Germany’s funeral association to launch the 24-hour, seven days a week channel on cable television and the internet.
51歲的前電視節目製作人施奈德與德國葬儀協會合作，在有線電視與網路上推出這個每天24小時、一週播7天的頻道。
He said："More than 800,000 people died in Germany last year. Multiply that by four and you have a rough estimate of the number of relatives affected. They will be our target audience. We are convinced that Eos TV will attract viewers."
他說：「去年德國死亡人數超過80萬，這個數字乘以4，就可粗略估計出受影響的家屬人數。他們將是我們的目標收視群，我們深信Eos電視台能吸引觀眾。」
Germany has one of the lowest birth rates in the world; last year there were about 150,000 more deaths than births. More than two million elderly people are receiving professional nursing care.
德國是世界上出生率最低的國家之一；去年死亡人數大約比出生人數多出15萬人。有超過2百萬的老人在接受專業護理。
