Aerospace Industrial Development Corp (AIDC, 漢翔航空) has received orders worth more than NT$3 billion (US$97.12 million) at the Paris Air Show, the Taiwanese company said yesterday.
AIDC said in a statement that it had renewed a contract with a major European aircraft maker and won six years of orders for components for single-aisle passenger aircraft at the trade fair, which opened on Monday and runs through Sunday.
In addition, AIDC has recently signed long-term contracts with international engine manufacturers and passenger aircraft makers to provide items such as compressor bearings, combustion engine parts, turbine support parts and other aircraft components, which are expected to contribute NT$10 billion to its revenue, the company said.
It has also signed a five-year memorandum of cooperation with a major Japanese passenger airplane manufacturer, and plans to cooperate with a major South Korean aircraft manufacturer on the supply of composite parts for commercial passenger airplanes, it said.
AIDC said it is optimistic about its business outlook for this year because of an increase in air passenger demand following the lifting of COVID-19 border restrictions.
It cited a forecast by US aerospace component supplier Honeywell International Inc that up to 8,500 new business jets worth US$274 billion would be delivered over the next decade.
Market analysis firm Forecast International also predicted that about 155,000 aircraft engines would be delivered from last year to 2031, with a total market value of more than US$900 billion, AIDC said.
Consolidated revenue last year reached a record NT$30.2 billion, with the company expecting the sales boom to continue this year amid the post-COVID-19 economic recovery, AIDC said.
Its shares closed up 1.72 percent yesterday at NT$65 in Taipei trading, having surged 81.82 percent so far this year, Taiwan Stock Exchange data showed.
