An event to promote Lithuanian products would be held at Breeze department store branches starting today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
The Lithuanian Lifestyle Festival would feature daily necessities and delicacies from the Baltic state, the ministry said.
Trade between Taiwan and Lithuania mainly involves technological products, such as semiconductors, lasers and biotechnology, and the festival aims to expand the scope of commercial exchanges, it said.
For example, Lithuania has been exporting chocolate, beer and birch sap to Taiwan since the second half of last year, the ministry said.
The ministry has been working with Lithuania’s private sector to expand bilateral trade, while the festival takes a different approach by appealing directly to consumers, Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs Deputy Director-General Isaac Chiu (邱陳煜) said.
The festival would showcase 12 Lithuanian products, while representatives form the two countries would sign a memorandum of understanding on trade today, the ministry added.
The ministry said it hopes the festival would raise interest among Taiwanese for Lithuanian products and bolster economic exchanges.
The event is being organized by the ministry, the Taiwan External Trade Council, and the Lithuanian Public Institution Rural Business and Markets Development Agency.
