Taiwanese chip manufacturer Via Technologies has released a new energy-efficient CPU, the Via Nano, which will go head-to-head with Intel’s latest mobile processor, Atom.
台灣晶片製造商威盛科技已發表一款新的節能中央處理器「Via Nano」，將與英特爾最新行動處理器「Atom」短兵相接。
According to a whitepaper released by Via last week, the Nano "will initially power a range of [mini] notebooks", putting it in direct competition with Intel’s Atom, released in Shanghai in April.
據威盛上週公布的白皮書，Nano「起初將為一系列（迷你）筆記型電腦提供動力」，使其直接與英特爾4月間在上海發表的Atom一決高下。
Glenn Henry, president of Centaur Technology, the Via subsidiary that designed the processor, told PC World that he is certain their CPUs are faster than Intel’s Atom technology. It appears that VIA’s offering is somewhere between Intel Atom and the Celerons in terms of performance.
設計這款處理器的威盛子公司Centaur Technology負責人葛林．亨利告訴《電腦世界雜誌》說，他確定他們的中央處理器（速度）比英特爾Atom的技術還快。威盛（處理器）提供的效能似乎介於英特爾的Atom及Celerons兩種處理器之間。
Compared to VIA’s older processors, the new Nano architecture offers two to four times the performance of the C7, depending upon the benchmark used. VIA’s new Nanos are compatible with the sockets used by their successful C7 CPUs, which means that things already designed for the C7 will be able to take in a newer, more powerful processor.
相較於威盛舊款處理器，新Nano架構的效能是C7處理器2至4倍，視所使用的評比指標而定。威盛新Nano處理器相容於他們成功的C7中央處理器所使用的插槽，這意謂已經針對C7設計的物件，將能採納一款更新、效能更強的處理器。
