The company whose contaminated pet food may have caused the deaths of thousands of dogs and cats has agreed to settle lawsuits with pet owners. Last March, Menu Foods recalled tens of millions of pet food containers.
生產遭污染寵物食品、可能導致數千隻貓狗喪命的公司，已同意與寵物飼主和解官司。去年3月，Menu Foods公司回收數千萬罐寵物食品罐頭。
The FDA found that wheat gluten in the food contained a chemical called melamine, which is used to make plastics.
（美國）食品藥物管理局發現，這些寵物食品中的麥麩含有一種稱為三聚氰胺的化學物質，這是一種製作塑膠的成分。
The wheat gluten was imported here from China by several U.S. companies, including Las Vegas based ChemNutra.
這些麥麩是由數家美國公司從中國輸入，其中包括總部設在拉斯維加斯的ChemNutra公司。
Amy Schulman, a lawyer for Menu Foods, said the planned settlement would resolve litigation in Canada and the U.S.
代表Menu Foods的律師艾蜜．舒爾曼說，計畫中的和解方案將能解決加拿大和美國兩地的訴訟。
Schulman said she could not disclose how much the settlements would be worth, but the company did say it expects its total costs from the recall to be about $53.8 million.
舒爾曼說，她不能透露和解金會有多少，但該公司確曾表示，預計這起回收事件總計要花費約5380萬美元。
The pet-food scare also led to criminal charges in February against two Chinese companies, ChemNutra and their officers .
這場寵物食品恐慌2月間也導致兩家中國公司、ChemNutra公司及其主管遭到刑事控告。
