Taiwan overtook the US and South Korea to clinch the third spot in the global men’s baseball rankings, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced today.

Taiwan returned to third place on the leaderboard after securing third in last month’s WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup.

Japan continues to hold the top spot, while Mexico is ranked second.

The ranking considers the past four years of results, including the U-12, U-15 and U-18 world cups.

Points gained in the European qualifiers, Americas qualifiers and the 2019 Premier 12 tournament are outside of the four-year limitation and were not considered.

Taiwan gained 335 points for this year’s U-15 third place, 459 points for second place in last year’s U-18 BFA Asian Baseball Championship and 502 points for third place in the U23 2023 Baseball World Cup, contributing to a total points tally of 3,706.

Front-runner Japan totaled 4,063 points, while the US dropped to fourth place with 4,063 points.

Venezuela rose one place on the leaderboard to fifth with 3,489 points, while South Korea slipped behind two places to No. 6 with 3,251 points after not competing in this year's U15 competition.
