Taiwan Railway Corp yesterday announced that it would provide 26 additional train services during the Dajia Matsu Pilgrimage from April 5 to 14, with bookings to start tomorrow.

The company said that the extra train services would run on April 5, 6 and 14 to meet an uptick in demand from pilgrims heading to Taichung and Changhua County.

In addition, more coaches would be added to 140 train services on these dates, as well as on April 13, it added.

Ticket reservations are to open at midnight tomorrow and people can visit the Taiwan Railway Corp Web site or the e-booking app for more information, such as train schedules and stops.

It also said that on April 5, 13 and 14 there would be no bicycle-friendly train services on the coastal line between Changhua and Zhunan, including all coastal line stations on the Chengzhui line, which connects the coastal line and the mountain line.

The Dajia Matsu Pilgrimage is an annual event celebrating the sea goddess Matsu’s birthday.

The pilgrimage this year is to stop at more 100 temples in Taichung, and Changhua, Yunlin and Chiayi counties, spanning a distance of about 340km, according to Jenn Lann Temple （鎮瀾宮） in Taichung’s Dajia District （大甲）, which organizes the event each year.
