Women who have been out of the workforce for 180 days or longer from next week can apply for a subsidy of up to NT$30,000 for self-directed job training as part of a Ministry of Labor program to encourage women to return to the workforce.
From Friday next week, women who have been unemployed for at least 180 days can apply to join the program, the Workforce Development Agency said in a news release yesterday.
Participants would receive a subsidy of up to NT$30,000 after completing self-directed training and registering as a job seeker on the TaiwanJobs Web site, it said.
Women who remain in a new job for at least 90 days can apply for another reward of up to NT$30,000, it added.
As an incentive to businesses to hire women who require flexible scheduling, the agency said it is also offering NT$3,000 monthly per position filled for up to 12 months.
The agency in September last year announced the three-year program aimed at addressing labor pressures caused by Taiwan’s aging society and low birthrate.
The Ministry of Labor has since June 2015 provided a one-stop employment service aimed at encouraging women who have been out of the workforce for more than two years to re-enter the job market. It helped 303,051 female job seekers find work last year, including 20,068 women who were re-entering the labor force.
Applications are accepted twice a year, the agency said, adding that the next window is from Friday next week to May 31.
An online information session is to be held on Thursday next week. Interested participants can register at https://pse.is/5kltb3.
