The New Taipei Kings basketball team yesterday inked a deal with former NBA player Jeremy Lin (林書豪) for a “one year plus” contract.

The “plus” would mean that Lin, after the completion of the season, would be able to decide whether he would continue with the Kings.

Lin yesterday said that he had always liked setting goals — large or small — and that he would strive to complete the goals he set for himself, step by step.

Lin said that after discussions with the coach, his goal this year is to be a regular starter in the P.League+ and to win the P.League+ championship and the East Asia Super League championship.

Lin signing for the Kings would see him play on the same team as his brother Joseph Lin (林書緯).

Jeremy Lin said that his dream has always been to play on the same team as his brother.

Jeremy Lin said that his parents hated their children being on different teams, especially if the teams had to play against one another, adding that his family would not have to worry about that particular problem now.

“My parents’ new problem is whether they would be wearing a jersey with Joseph’s number or mine,” Jeremy Lin said.

Jeremy Lin, 35, joined the Kaohsiung Steelers midway through last season and helped transform the hapless 2-17 club into playoff contenders by winning 15 of the next 20 games.
