President Tsai Ing-wen （蔡英文） has a higher public satisfaction rating than her Cabinet, according to two separate surveys released yesterday and last week.

The Taiwan Generation Think Tank said its latest survey, released yesterday, indicates that 60.1 percent of the respondents are satisfied with Tsai’s performance in the month since her inauguration, while 24.5 percent are not.

Asked if they are confident in Tsai’s administration, 65.4 percent of those surveyed said yes, while 24.5 percent said no.

On a series of questions about whether Tsai has implemented any of the promises and platforms she presented during the election campaign, 53.3 percent of respondents said Tsai’s cross-strait policy has met her ideas on cross-strait relations, while 25.5 percent disagreed.

In terms of energy resource policy, 36.5 percent said Tsai’s energy policy is in line with her proposals, while 36.7 percent said that most of her energy policies are not the same as those she made during the campaign.

The survey also shows that Tsai’s government has implemented only five out of 11 of her campaign pledges: establishing a long-term healthcare system, recognized by 49 percent of those polled; promoting pension reforms （43 percent）; acting to stabilize cross-strait relations （42.9 percent）; pushing for transitional justice （42 percent）; and caring for workers’ benefits and rights （41.4 percent）.

As for the performance of the legislative caucuses, the Democratic Progressive Party caucus had the highest approval rating （44.1 percent）, followed by the New Power Party （40.2 percent）, the Chinese Nationalist Party （KMT） （24.6 percent） and the People First Party （20.7 percent）.

The Taiwan Generation Think Tank survey was conducted among adults nationwide on Friday and Saturday by the Decision Making Research Center. A total of 1,070 valid samples were collected, and the margin of error was 2.99 percentage points.

The survey did not touch on public satisfaction with the Cabinet headed by Premier Lin Chuan （林全）, but another survey, conducted by the TVBS Survey Center from Tuesday to Thursday last week and published on Friday, found the public approval rate for the Cabinet’s performance over the past month was at 34 percent, while 38 percent of respondents disapproved of its actions.

Cabinet spokesman Tung Chen-yuan （童振源） said the Executive Yuan accepts the opinions with an open mind.
