The Executive Yuan yesterday announced the schedule of working days for 2016, which showed that workers are to receive seven long weekends next year.
The schedule showed that employees are to have nine days off for the Lunar New Year holiday, but are expected to work on Jan. 30 next year, a Saturday.
According to the Executive Yuan Directorate-General of Personnel Administration, there are to be three long weekends that span three days: the New Year’s Day holiday from Jan. 1 to Jan. 3; the 228 Peace Memorial Day holiday from Feb. 27 to Feb. 29; and the Double Ten National Day long weekend from Oct. 8 to Oct. 10.
Employees will also receive three four-day holidays: the Tomb Sweeping Day holiday from April 2 to April 5; the Dragon Boat Festival from June 9 to June 12; and the Mid-Autumn Festival from Sept. 15 to Sept. 18.
Apart from the Saturday before the Lunar New Year holiday, working days in the place of long holidays include the Monday before the Dragon Boat Festival and the Saturday before the Mid-Autumn Festival.
